30 Helpful AI Prompts for Freelancers
I know a lot of people, including freelancers, are wary of AI and how it could impact job security. While I don’t think AI can (or should) replace human creativity, I personally love using it to brainstorm, do research, plan, and simplify repeatable tasks.
Since I’ve transitioned to freelancing full-time, I’ve leaned heavily on AI tools. I’m a collaborative person, and I miss being able to bounce ideas off others. Luckily, LLMs have proven to be a satisfying stand-in so far.
On the flip side, I’ve also experienced times when an LLM has disappointingly generated pure slop. This usually comes down to a prompting issue. MIT Sloan Teaching & Learning Technologies puts it best:
“The way you frame prompts shapes the AI’s output… Given that context, consider these three strategies for prompt engineering: First, provide context. Second, be specific. And third, build on the conversation.”
With that thought in mind, I wanted to create a list of helpful AI prompts for freelancers. These are only meant to be a starting point, since they’re missing much of the context needed to get the most helpful answers.
Before you plug and play, write a business brief that informs the LLM about your unique circumstances so it can tailor responses to your specific situation. For best results, paste that business brief into the LLM before using any of these prompts.
